My summer edit: for skin, scent, sanity & one very spoiled Great Dane
There’s summer—and then there’s New York summer. I’m talking wet hair on hot sidewalks, salt on your shins, and perfume that sticks around like a good mistake. These are the things keeping me alive (and semi-luminous) while I chase down espresso, gallery shows, and my 85-lb Great Dane puppy, Manhattan. Yes, I named him that. No, I don’t regret it.
Here’s what’s in rotation—beauty, scent, and a couple things for my very large son.
Human Must-Haves
1. Moroccanoil Dry Body Oil – Iconic and glowy, this dry body oil is a quick-absorbing blend of argan oil with just a whisper of heliotrope. Locks in moisture, leaves skin satiny—not sticky—just like your favorite yacht breeze.
2. The Nue Co. Mind Energy
Paranoid brain? Spritz this unisex spicy booster—less perfume, more mood shift.
3. Aquis Rapid Dry Hair Wrap
Seriously fast. Sea→salon in record time without frizz trauma.
4. Dead Sea Epsom Salt Soak
Hot baths in August are self-care, not luxury. Detox before burnout.
5. NuDerma Professional Skin Therapy Wand
My secret weapon for stressed-out skin and overstimulated summer brain. I keep it chilled in the fridge and use the comb attachment along my hairline for the most unreal scalp massage—it’s like acupuncture and aromatherapy had a love child. Electric, tingling, and so satisfying.
6. Santa Maria Novella MelogranoBizzaria Eau de Parfum
It’s citrus, but weird. Neroli, orange blossom, and something slightly witchy underneath—like if a Sicilian heiress cursed her ex and then went dancing. Unisex, offbeat, and perfect for sweating in silk.
7. Loewe x Paula’s Ibiza Coconut Gourmand Candle
Suntan lotion vibes, minimalism energy, slight trouble flavor.
8. Cupping
I first tried cupping to relieve tension, and now it’s a non-negotiable part of my reset routine. It drains puffiness, boosts circulation, and leaves my body feeling light and restored. I book it through ClassPass, so I can keep the ritual going wherever I am. Use our link for some free credits). Variety’s the ritual.
9. Biologique Recherche VIP O₂ Mask
Sun day or gala night—revives tired skin like a resuscitation.
10. Dôen x Garrett Leight Sunglasses
Effortless vintage. Gives emotional unavailability in two shades.
Manhattan Approved
11. Cooling Bandana
Freezer pops meet dog fashion. He stalks the High Line like a runway.
12. Cloud7 Roll-Up Travel Dog Bed
Your pup’s apartment-away-from-home for Westchester weekends.
That’s the list.
Hydrate. Apply sunscreen. Break hearts gently.
And if all else fails—blame it on the heat.
xo,
Courtney
